Hurricane Ike.....take a HIKE

Hurricane Ike slammed into the gulf coast near Galveston late Friday night, leaving 5 million with out power and thousands and thousands of people homeless, and devastating most of Texas. Our prayers go out to all of Ike's victims. We feel extremely fortunate to live where we do.
We were open to as many evacuees as we could take on! My mom and sister, my brother and his wife, and sweet baby. Unfortunately I am sad to report that my grandmothers house was knee deep in flood waters, my Aunt and Uncle had a tree through their roof, and my entire family is still with out power.
On a happier note....Ryan, Charlie, and I tried to make the best of it and I have included some pictures of our fun-filled weekend cooped up in the house! It was actually nice to enjoy each others company. I am not going to post any pictures of the hurricane, only happy pictures. I think we have all seen enough of the devastating pictures from Ike, I am posting happy ones!
God Bless everyone who begins to pick up the pieces after this horrific storm. Our heart goes out to everyone who was affected.

Sunday Supper

Yesterday we enjoyed a wonderful day with family! Mimi and Poppa and Aunt Kat came over! Nanna and Poppy joined us too! We watched the Texans (get stomped), grilled steaks and laughed at Charlie mostly... He was putting on quite a show for all of his guests. Mimi brought over his new Halloween costume that fits his personality to a tee....a silly monkey! After lunch and LOTS of playing, we all look over to see Charlie passed out in the recliner, which is a first! He did not want to take a nap while all of his company was there, but as soon as he climbed up in that big chair and Poppy started rocking him, he drifted off and lost the fight!

He tried to fight his nap...and lost!

EAR Update

The ear saga continues.... Charlie had tubes put in July 25th. Since then we have had a couple of check ups and the doctor was concerned about his chronic congestion and he was concerned about his right tube. The right tube is blocked and red. Last week he put Charlie back on another round of antibiotics and steroids (which was a first for us), and Charlie was to be checked again in seven days. Well, we went in yesterday afternoon to find out that the right tube is STILL blocked and his ear is still red. The congestion however is much better. To make a long, boring story short....we have to continue drops in his right ear for another 7 days and he will see us back next week. At that point he will decide whether Charlie needs a second surgery to remove the blocked tube and put in a new one.
He has been quite the little trooper through all of this. But, we are praying for the drops to work!!!! We do not want another surgery!!!!

Fall is for FOOTBALL

If you know the Farrell's well, you know that after the first kickoff of College Football, our lives are changed and planned carefully around game time each week! We Eat, Sleep, and Breathe Aggie Football for the next 12 weeks. And we love our Texans football too!
This weekend was our inaugural kickoff for the Sherman era. New excitement, new coach, new team???.....unfortunately we were a bit disappointed this week. I sat patiently at home while Ryan attended the game, waiting for text updates throughout the evening (the game was not televised). When Ryan made the final phone call on the way home, I could tell by the sad tone in his voice, we had been defeated. After sulking for a while....we are ready for next week!
I am also sad to report that I forgot my camera on my desk at work this weekend and was unable to capture precious game day photos of Charlie in his Aggie best. Don't worry, there will be many more to come!

When you ask Charlie what the Aggies say...he says "WHOOP!"
